A very wealthy woman, Dina Hunter (Barbara Eden), takes a vacation with her husband Jerry (Robert Vaughn) in an attempt for her to recover from a traffic accident. While there an artist named Paul Carter (Stuart Whitman) becomes intrigued by Dina and stalks her with the excuse that he wants to paint her portrait. Dina's interest in him leads her to stumble upon evidence and uncover clues that he is more than just an artist — she discovers that he may possibly be a jewel thief and an international killer! She tries to convince her husband and the local authorities that she’s in danger for her life but no one will believe her story.
